Director, Labor Law

ZeniMax Media is seeking an experienced Director, Labor Law to join our in-house legal team. Headquartered just north of Washington, D.C., with offices around the world, ZeniMax is a video game publisher managed by experienced executives with a strong creative team of world-class developers, artists, and designers.

In this role, you will work closely with the Microsoft Legal team and report to the Senior Corporate Counsel for Microsoft, providing strategic advice and legal counsel regarding collective bargaining, evolving labor law, and labor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, including developing negotiation strategies and preparing proposals
2. Support all litigation, arbitration, and legal proceedings related to grievances, unfair labor practice charges, and NLRA-related issues
3. Advise leadership and internal business partners on labor strategy, collective bargaining agreements, and risk mitigation
4. Manage relationships with outside counsel to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with company objectives
5. Provide legal advice on labor relations training, education, and communication
6. Advocate for strategies that foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive work environment
7. Partner with Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, and Communications teams to develop long-term labor and employee relations strategies
8. Serve as an extended member of Microsoft's Workforce, Employment and Benefits Solutions (WEBS) legal team
9. Respond promptly to requests from business and legal teams with clear and inclusive communication
10. Travel as needed for labor negotiations, team events, and other business activities

1. Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree
2. 7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney specializing in labor law, including collective bargaining, organizing activity, agency hearings, and labor arbitration, or equivalent experience
3. Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction with capability to meet admission requirements in relevant jurisdictions
4. Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
5. Extensive experience and knowledge in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting collective bargaining agreements
6. Experience in the entertainment industry (preferred)
7. Sound judgment incorporating legal analysis, pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals and risk tolerance
8. Project management skills and ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines amid competing priorities
9. Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to foster inclusive dialogue
10. Attention to detail
11. Ability to independently handle multiple diverse projects simultaneously and under deadlines
12. Strong ethics, collaboration, and influencing skills
